The Luminor Complicazioni collection debuts a new model, in which Panerai Replica has enclosed a movement with a GMT indication and a power reserve extended to 10 days inside a ceramic case.
Ceramics have become a permanent fixture in the watchmaking world, as evidenced by the next Officine Panerai model, whose case was made of this very lightweight and scratch-resistant material. This time, the Swiss have opted for proven black in a matte version, combined with titanium crown protection and a titanium bezel surrounding the glass caseback.
Under the front, convex glass of the watch, there is a “sandwich” dial, i.e. one in which the top layer with holes cut in it (forming indexes) shows the bottom layer, with the Super-LumiNova luminous substance applied in these places. The dial received a nice, dark green color and was decorated with a sunburst. In addition to the time indication, we can read from the dial, among other things, the date and the degree of “charge” of the mechanism, implemented here unusually, because linearly. The green and black composition is broken by orange tips of the hands associated with the GMT function.
The P.2003 caliber serves as the drive. It consists of 296 elements, operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and is based on three spring barrels that are able to accumulate energy for up to 10 days of continuous operation (the titular “Dieci Giorni”). The P.2003 also features a resetting mechanism for the second hand – after pulling the crown to the second position, its hand stops and sets to the “zero” position. Thanks to this, the time can be set precisely. Panerai opted for automatic winding, which affected the thickness of the whole and makes little sense for models with a power reserve indication.
The watch will be sold with a black alligator strap – a rather odd combination for a sports watch. Fortunately, the set includes an additional green rubber strap. The total is priced at PLN 89,000.
