Autumn or the end of the year seems to be the most popular time for watch manufacturers to bring their new models onto the market #Christmas business. And so the output of press releases that reach you as a watch blogger during this time is enormous. Almost every day (on working days) at least one or two press releases land in your email inbox.
With smaller watch brands, even the founders themselves write to you. I find that somehow appealing. But since I can’t present all the watches (and sometimes don’t even want to), I have chosen the ones I think are the most interesting. And since ZEIGR is currently celebrating its 5th anniversary, there are 5 pieces of watch news 🙂
1.BREITLING PREMIER COLLECTION
At this year’s Baselworld, Breitling Replica has already presented a number of watches that clearly show that the traditional manufacturer is moving in a new direction. The new models are becoming increasingly “pleasing” in terms of design. Some are in favor of things finally moving more towards the “mainstream” – others are less so. One thing is certain: Breitling wants to win new customers – and is targeting this year’s new watches at new target groups.

BREITLING PREMIER AUTOMATIC 40 AND DAY & DATE 40:
As you can see, there are no annoying corners or edges to be seen. The (retro) design is – compared to earlier Breitling models – downright smooth and pleasant. The 42 millimeter case diameter of the chronograph and the 40 millimeters of the Day & Date also deviate greatly from the manufacturer’s previous “megalomania”. The prices, however, are the same as before.
2.LONGINES SKIN DIVER WATCH
Longines has been building watches for 185 years and has a number of watches in its history that are worth a new edition. For example, this Longines diver’s watch from the 50s/60s, which we will first look at as an “original”, as a vintage watch:
And this is what it looks like in 2018 as a new edition and retro watch:
Pretty close to the original. Pretty successful, right? Here are the most important details: The diameter is 42 mm, the automatic movement is called L619/888 (based on ETA 2892-A2). The power reserve is 64 hours.
3.GLASHÜTTE ORIGINAL SENATOR EXCELLENCE
I just can’t get enough of the Senator Excellence models from Glashütte Original. That was already the case at Baselworld. Regardless of whether it is the version with a panorama date (above) or with an additional moon phase:
To compensate, here is a watch that you can afford a little more easily 😉 It is well under 1,000 euros.
4.MÉRAUD BONAIRE DIVE WATCH
The short version: These are vintage-inspired watches from Belgium with Swiss movements. You can currently get them on Kickstarter (until November 17, 2018). The early bird price is currently 645 euros. The Swiss movement used in this watch is called STP1-11 (STP – Swiss Technology Production) and is a clone of the tried and tested ETA 2824-2. 5.BLANCPAIN FIFTY FATHOMS BATHYSCAPHE – BUCHERER BLUE EDITIONS
Blancpain is not one of those watch brands that really triggers emotions in me. This could be due to the prices that this manufacturer charges. But when the press release came in with this “All Blue” Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe, I lingered a little longer… It is definitely an eye-catcher.
