It’s been 10 years since Jean-Claude Biver created one of the most recognizable sports watches. The round anniversary brings its new version with a perpetual calendar debuting in Hublot’s offer.
When the charismatic, self-confident and tolerant of compromise Jean-Claude Biver took over Hublot from Carlo Crocco over a decade ago, the brand was in a completely different place than it is today. The vision of combining gold with rubber may have been revolutionary, but watches did not enter the consciousness of the average customer. After adventures at Audemars Piguet, Omega and the revival of Blancpain, Biver bought Hublot with a specific vision, based on the slogan “Art Of Fusion”. This art of fusion was essentially about combining luxurious and “new” materials into modern, stylistically bold timepieces with a specific style, aimed at a younger audience. Big Bang entered the market with a bang, instantly making Hublot Replica recognizable. The fact is that its history later turned into an entire army of variants, often differing from each other only in cosmetic details or other, usually strange, limitations.
The BB Chrono Perpetual Calendar is a combined Unico chronograph and a mechanical calendar, taking into account all date changes that occur during the calendar year. The caliber has the number HUB 1270 Unico, automatic winding (with a tungsten rotor) and a 72-hour power reserve. In addition to the time and stopwatch, it also shows the current date, day of the week, month, leap years and moon phases.
These indications are arranged on a transparent dial with four dials. The one at 12 o’clock is a date display plus a small seconds. At 3 o’clock we find the moon phase disc, at 6 o’clock the day of the week, and at 9 o’clock we find the month and years. To easily distinguish the calendar and chronograph from each other, the hands of the former are white, in contrast to the red hands of the stopwatch.
Initially (because knowing the brand’s policy, we will soon see a number of variations) BB Chrono Perpetual will be available in titanium and rose gold King Gold versions (18ct pink gold plus 5% platinum). Both variants are 45mm in diameter (WR 30m) and have a satin-finished ceramic bezel with six titanium screws and a rubber strap. In one word – Big Bang in a nutshell.
