Panerai Replica Luminor Ten Days GMT PAM01482

A blue dial, a distinctive case and a long power reserve. In the Luminor Dieci Giorni GMT PAM01482, tradition goes hand in hand with modernity.

Seeing the words “Dieci Giorni” in the name, Italian speakers will quickly guess what the most important feature of the new Luminor PAM01482 is – a 10-day power reserve. And, as impressive as it is, the Luminor Dieci Giorni GMT has even more to offer, such as a linear power reserve indicator, a second time zone with a day/night division and a date display.

Let’s start with the movement. The first watches with an extended power reserve were introduced by Panerai Replica in the 1960s. At that time, the company was producing diving watches for the Italian Navy, so for practical reasons, it offered the military models with a longer power reserve. Firstly, they did not require frequent winding. And secondly, the seals were less susceptible to wear, which meant greater water resistance. At that time, Panerai did not yet have its own movements, so they used the Angelus SF240 calibre in these watches, with an eight-day power reserve.

The first caliber with an extended power reserve, created in-house, did not appear until 2005. The manually wound P.2002 had an eight-day power reserve and a second time zone. Two years later, Officine Panerai created the P.2003, the first automatic caliber with a 10-day power reserve (indicated on the dial by a linear indicator), which is still used today in selected versions of the Radiomir and Luminor models. And the Luminor Dieci Giorni GMT PAM01482 described here is the latest example of this.

The PAM01482 has the Luminor series’ signature cushion-shaped case with patented crown protection and is available with a navy blue alligator strap and an additional rubber strap (also in navy blue), which gives the “Dieci Giorni” a more casual look.

The case is 44 mm in diameter and made of polished steel. Moving on, we have a brushed, navy blue “sandwich” dial – one of the hallmarks of Panerai watches. In addition to the wide hands (hour and minute) and the characteristic layout of indexes and Arabic numerals, it features an additional central hand for the second time zone (tipped with an orange tip), an additional dial for the small seconds hand and day/night (AM/PM) indicator at 9 o’clock, as well as a date display at 3 o’clock and a linear power reserve indicator located at the bottom of the dial.

The watch has a transparent caseback, under which the aforementioned automatic caliber P.2003 with a 10-day power reserve works. The P.2003 consists of 296 parts, works at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a stop seconds function.
