A unique and daring design, which Cartier has decided to bring back to the forefront, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the model, for our greatest pleasure and that of all lovers of vintage watches.

The story of this watch begins in London in the early 1970s. At that time, the British branch of Cartier was the most prolific in terms of new designs. Five years after designing the famous Crash, the London office returns with the “Pebble” (the “pebble” in French). A design by Jean-Jacques Cartier himself, both simple and original: a square nestled in a circle, except that the square is arranged with one corner at the top, and not flat. The dial is in the purest Cartier tradition: sword-shaped hands, Roman numerals and a railway minute track.
A 2024 version very faithful to the original
The 2024 version of the Pebble takes up the 1972 design line for line. The case is in 18K yellow gold, and gains 0.5mm, for a total of 36mm in diameter. The watch also remains very thin, at only 6.3mm thick. The dial adopts an eggshell color, which gives a little more warmth to the watch. For the rest, it is an almost exact copy. Inside the Pebble 2022, we find the 430MC movement, from the Piaget 430P. An ultra-thin caliber, manually wound, which oscillates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, and which delivers 38 hours of power reserve.

With this reissue of the Pebble, Cartier pays homage to its own history, through a model with a unique design, which fits perfectly into the Cartier spirit. The perfect balance between the elegance of the watch and the originality of its lines. And as usual with limited editions, our only regret is that this piece does not enter the permanent collection.
