OMEGA STARTS INTO 2024 WITH A NEW SPEEDMASTER
The collection celebrates its 65th anniversary with the launch of the current model, which features a unique 38.6 mm case made of 18-carat Canopus GoldTM and was inspired by the very first Speedmaster – the so-called CK2915-1. The exclusive material is Omega Replica own white gold alloy, which is characterized by its particularly strong white luster and durability. Watch lovers will also recognize the NAIAD symbol on the crown of the watch, which was specifically placed on some of the first CK2915 models as an indication of water resistance.
The model also features 18-carat white gold hands, Canopus GoldTM and PVD-coated indexes, the three classic Speedmaster sub-dials with small seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour counters and the central chronograph function.
Of course, the famous tachymeter scale is also present. It has been coated in black “Grand Feu” enamel on the bezel and, if you look closely, you can also see two of the most collectible design features of the original Speedmaster: the famous “dot over the ninety” (DON) and a dot diagonal to the 70.
Perhaps most coveted is the renowned movement inside the timepiece. Caliber 321 was the original movement used in the first Speedmaster in 1957. It also powered the watches used during the Apollo missions, including the six historic moon landings. In 2019, Omega resumed production of Caliber 321, taking great care to preserve all authentic specifications. The use of the caliber in the new collection enhances the original character of the watch and ensures a true anchoring in the Speedmaster tradition.
The Speedmaster with Caliber 321 features an 18-carat Canopus GoldTM bracelet with a comfortable adjustable clasp and is available in a special wooden box. In honor of the collection’s 65th anniversary, the box has been decorated with a rosewood-style pattern. The shape and design of the box are also inspired by the original Speedmaster boxes that customers received in 1957.
